Nearly 25 years after the Chernobyl reactor explosion, the Alsatian humanitarian association "Children of Chernobyl continues to present evidence of continuation of the disaster and interest stays in France of "Children of Chernobyl".
In partnership with the Centre for Radioactive Medicine of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the association has produced a new project: more than 150 Ukrainian children living in contaminated villages in northern Ukraine and the Russian city of Novozybkov invited to France in summer 2010 has been a determination of internal radioactive contamination by cesium-137 from the body before and after their French holiday.
The results are dramatic. Whereas with a contamination of 40 Bq / kg, 2 out of 3 children with abnormalities on the electrocardiogram, several children had a body burden of cesium-137 to several hundred Bq / kg ... more than 24 years after the explosion
While vacationing French in 2010, Ukrainian and Russian children invited by the association reduced their body burden of radiocaesium very significantly, up over 70% for most contaminated only by power "clean". These results are remarkable and prove the value of these projects.
Nearly 25 years after the explosion, the Chernobyl disaster continues. The Humanitarian Association "Children of Chernobyl" appeals to volunteer host families. It will host in July and August 2011 reception in France for stays of 3 weeks of Ukrainian and Russian children from these regions. The children come from disadvantaged backgrounds and are selected by the care of the association in this sense.
