300 million Chinese, and me and me, and I treasure
Between Chinese and I can not say it was a thunderbolt. I found (and still is) that it was a language not smooth at all. I was not attracted by the characters.
But I still decided to learn it, the first reason being that John interested in speaking French and Breton, I had to return the favor! And, against all odds, I love the course. The teacher is very nice and competent, the atmosphere is good. Today we even had our first collective laughter is a sign of goodwill! My neighbor and buddy, Andrew, is Irish and accordion, it was fate that we were seated next to each other from day one!
is progressing fast enough, it's very rewarding to be able to write and read our first words. Well, I still find it difficult to distinguish and pronounce certain sounds and tones remain an obscure affair, but it will come!
These days we have had our first questions, and therefore our initial results. I am very happy with mine: 90/100 (discrimination of sounds and tones), 98/100 (dictated words of the lesson written in Chinese characters), 100/100 (dictated words of the lesson written in pinyin. Pinyin Chinese is written with the Latin alphabet). Hope it lasts!
For cons, I had already pointed to the school administration, I can continue ... Today we were invited to an exit. But it will take place next Tuesday. We must therefore miss the course in order to go, while paying for the same course! I thought all schools in the world organized trips on weekends or in the afternoon when classes are held only in the morning, I think MLC is a gem! Moreover, our teacher told us one of his students had never been, and had not liked too.
and other guests, a meal-studio to talk about learning Chinese. Probably very interesting but intended only to Westerners. Obviously, the concept was not too pleased, why the 5-class white could have free pizza, but not the 4 Asians? So I asked the teacher. She was not sure, thought it was a matter of English proficiency. I do not see the report, I know lots of Thais who speak English better than some French ... Bizarre, bizarre ... Unless there is also a workshop 100% Asian? In any case, it is not on the agenda yet.
