Technology used is the same as Google Street View ...

Strolling the aisles of the Uffizi Gallery, the MoMA or the Hermitage Museum, is possible without leaving your living room thanks to Google Art Project. Presented Monday, the new site uses technology from Google Street View to 17 of the largest museums in the world-Versailles is a partner, but not the Louvre.

Concretely, we can move 360 degrees in a faux 3D environment. We can then click on more than 1,000 teachers of 400 paintings to admire them in high resolution.

Each museum also chose a work to be photographed in ultra-high resolution. These images (in particular obtained by gluing) contain 7 billion pixels: 1,000 times more than conventional photo. In

maximum zoom, so you can see every brush stroke of the House of Van Gogh or the brightness in the pupil of Botticelli's Birth of Venus. For once, Google Street View should not create controversy.
